Frequently Asked Questions
After your initial skin consultation, we will have you schedule an hour-long appointment for the SkinPen® microneedling treatment. However, the treatment typically only takes around 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment areas and which areas are being treated.
It is generally considered to be a painless treatment. We offer a numbing cream that can be applied to the treatment area beforehand to help you feel more comfortable and relaxed, but it is not required, and some patients go without it. You may feel some slight tingling or pressure during the treatment.
You may see initial results within the first three to five days after treatment. Full results will continue to reveal themselves over the next four weeks as the skin regenerates and collagen and elastin production increases.
We recommend between three and six sessions depending on your skin type and desired outcome. We will space each session about six to eight weeks apart to give your skin ample time to heal and regenerate between sessions.

During your consultation, we will give you specific before and aftercare instructions for your SkinPen® microneedling appointment. Typically, we recommend avoiding chemical peels, abrasive or exfoliating skincare products, and sun exposure for five to seven days before treatment. After treatment, we recommend avoiding any strenuous activity, sun exposure, makeup, and hot water or saunas for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment. If you have not already, you should also incorporate a daily SPF into your morning skincare routine for at least two weeks after the treatment to protect the skin barrier.
